The girl who stopped swimming by Joshilyn Jackson. This is the first book I have read by the author and it is good. You will be hooked from the beginning . The story has good character development, and a modern day Gothic mystery story line. Perfect summer reading material. Live does not get much better than sitting on your porch or if we are lucky at the beach with a good book and a nice cold drink.

The Ninth Life of Louis Drax by Liz Jensen . A story of little Louis Drax the amazing accident prone boy who falls into a coma on his ninth birthday. Then the plot thickens into a haunting riveting and surprising tale . The story pulls you in and holds you till the final page. This is a good book.

Coming Of Age in Mississippi by Anne Moody.
A well-written powerful autobiography of her experiences growing up poor and black in the south . Anne eventually becomes involved in the civil rights movement and we get to understand what it was like for her and other foot soldiers of the movement who risked their lives on a daily basis to help bring social and political changes to the country. I highly recommend this book .

This is a book that is both horrifying and inspiring at the same time.I highly recommend reading this book and passing it on to others to read. The memoirs of a boy soldier Ishmael Beah.Who was once a happy carefree 12 year old boy. Then the war in Sierra Leone came to his village and changed everything. Forced to flee to avoid being captured or killed by the rebels.Ishmael and his friends where then discovered my the army and forced into becoming soldiers.
